    Haldor was very interested in returning to Brazerin’s Tower after his previous foray as soon as possible, to prevent villains and monsters from entering it and plundering whatever magic and secrets it held. So he gathered Donner, Falin, Lida, and Serafina, and set out for the tower. Using his connection with the spirits of the river, he made it possible for the group to traverse the waters without getting their feet wet, and so they journeyed all the way from Chepdale to Brazerin’s Tower in one day’s march.
    They had brought a small barrel of ale to negotiate with the cyclops in the air area, and after dealing with the goblins, they successfully bribed the cyclops. The group then advanced to fight the manticores.
    They had to endure a bombardment of tail spikes from the three flying monsters – hard and bitter moments. Finally the creatures ran out spikes and closed to melee range. Once there, they proved much less of a challenge, and the group returned to Brazerin’s priestly image to get their well-deserved key.
    Falin used the key to open the armoury. Here they found a gem, which could be used to empower one of four pieces of equipment on display in the room: two different swords, a breastplate, and a shield. Falin was quick to choose in favour of the shield, and when he inserted the gem, the shield took shape and hues to suit a dwarven warrior.
    After these struggles, the group rested for the night, and fortunately, they were undisturbed. The next morning, they entered the fire area, where an image of Brazerin in a dress and some tacky makeup implored them to save ‘her’ little son from the flaming building in front of them. The group entered, and survived a partial roof collapse. Serafina used her fey persuasion power to get the ‘boy’ (a huge, fat man, who looked like he may have started the fire) to come with them. To get out, the group had to fight their way past a duo of fire elementals, after which another key was theirs to use.
    They chose to use it to open the reliquary, where the group had to choose between a pearl of power, a set of boots of the winterlands, a staff of the python and a wand of magic detection. After some debate, they picked the pearl, which Haldor took.
    After a brief respite, the group entered the water area, which turned out to be a small, tropical island with a pirate theme. An image of Brazerin in full stage pirate attire challenged them to capture a medallion nailed to the mast of a ship anchored in the bay. To achieve this, the group first fought a huge crocodile to get access to a rowboat. Then, as they rowed out, they were attacked by a dozen sahuagin. When most of them had been slain, the rest of the monsters retreated into the depths.
    The final approach to the anchored ship failed to be sufficiently stealthy to avoid detection, and an alarm bell was sounded. Serafina was able to disguise the boat using a darkness spell. Under cover of this, Lida was able to hide on the ship, and the rest of the group rowed away. Once the pirates on board had calmed down again, Lida crept up to the mast and retrieved the medallion. A while later, the group returned to pick her up, and so another key was earned.
    This key was soon used to open the door to the stairs. However, once down to the next level, another door blocked further progress. A dispel magic spell of at least fourth level would be required to pass the door. This was beyond Haldor’s current capabilities, but at least should prove a similarly tough barrier to anyone else intending to plunder the tower.
    With their progress checked for the moment, the group used a rune of teleportation to return to Chepdale. In The Laughing Sage, they found out that Sisala had vanished without a word, apparently in the company of a stranger. After some scrutinizing and comparing of witness accounts, it was clear that whoever it was had used illusion magic to disguise him- or herself.

    Their runes come in Lesser Rune (uncommon), Rune (rare), Greater Rune (very rare) and Ancient Rune (legendary) variations. A weapon can have one rune scribed on it, and from then on counts as a magical weapon for overcoming damage resistance. To activate any of the rune’s powers, the weapon must be held, and the rune attuned to.
